EPT Snowfest was a new addition to the EPT roster in Season 6 and became an instant hit with players. It was the first time the EPT had visited the Alps and there was no hesitation about a return visit for Season 7 - the €3,750 five-day event will take place March 20-25, 2011.
The debut EPT Snowfest event gave players plenty of exhilarating ski and snowboard action when they weren’t at the tables but the lure of Saalbach-Hinterglemm’s celebrated ski slopes certainly didn’t detract from the world-class poker action indoors.
EPT Snowfest was a thrilling event with a gripping final. Team PokerStars Pro Johannes Strassmann made it to third place but the long-awaited EPT victory went to Danish pro Allan Baekke who beat Canadian PokerStars qualifier Russell Carson heads-up. Baekke, who normally plays high-stakes heads-up tournaments online, has been seeking an EPT title since Dortmund in Season 3. His win also netted him the EPT Achievement of the Year Award at the EPT Grand Final.
The full prize package for PokerStars qualifiers and PokerStars players includes accommodation, transfer to and from Salzburg Airport and a six-day ski package (lift pass, skis, boots and poles.)
