EPT MONTE CARLO
The EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo is always a spectacular event and this season’s tournament is set to be even bigger and better than ever before with a packed schedule of exciting events.
Last season, the six-day €10,600 event smashed records yet again as the richest poker tournament ever held outside Las Vegas. The total prize pool was a staggering €9.35 million and Grand Final champion Pieter de Korver, a member of Team PokerStars PRO Netherlands, won €2.3million after besting a field of 935 players. De Korver staged a remarkable comeback during the nine-hour final table recovering from just two big blinds to win a series of showdowns and take the lead.
As always, the Season 5 Grand Final attracted the best poker pros in the world and the 157 PokerStars players who won their seats online were brushing shoulders with legends such as Team PokerStars PRO Daniel Negreanu, hip-hop superstar Nelly, world champion Peter Eastgate and former world champions Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer and Chris Moneymaker as well as rugby star Sebastien Chabal and Team Pokerstars SportStars Boris Becker.
The first ever Ante Up For Africa in Europe also took place – a star-studded event featuring a host of international celebrities. Isabelle Mercier emerged the winner while Team PokerStars PRO Vanessa Rousso snagged €720,000 for taking down the first ever €25,000 EPT Monte Carlo high roller tournament.
