With more than half the field hailing from Nordic countries, it was little surprise that the winner of last season’s popular Copenhagen event was a Nordic player. PokerStars player Jens Kyllönen, from Finland, became the fifth Copenhagen champion after seeing off his heads-up rival, the veteran Swedish pro Peter Hedlund. Kyllönen, 19, from Helsinki, earned the equivalent of €878,057 in one of the swiftest ever finals.

He was among 276 players hailing from the Nordic countries of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland – from a record field of 462 players. He was also the first Finnish player to win an EPT since Patrik Antonius in Baden in season two.

The 50,000 Danish kroner buy-in tournament, hosted by Casino Copenhagen, attracted players from 30 countries, including 112 players who won their seats online with PokerStars. The total prize pool was 22,176,000 DKK (€2,976,465).
