Former chess champion Sander Lylloff, 25, from Copenhagen, Denmark, won the biggest poker tournament ever held in Spain when he picked up the PokerStars European Poker Tour title in Barcelona on Saturday (September 1). A total of 543 players entered the tournament, generating a total prize pool of €4,181,100 and top prize of €1,170,700. Briton Mark Teltscher, who won the EPT London Season 2 event, came 2nd in Barcelona and American student Greg Dyer came 3rd.

    HOW TO ENTER

    The easiest way to get your buy-in for the tournament is to qualify online with PokerStars. The deadline for wire transfer payments has now passed. Please click here for full details - satellites end on August 18, 2007.

    W$ Buy-In Information
    Depending on availability, players may buy in to EPT events using W$ providing they have PlatinumStar or Supernova VIP status on PokerStars. Requests for W$ direct buy-ins must be submitted to ept@pokerstars.com and requests need to be received before the final online qualifying tournament on PokerStars (typically two Saturdays before the event) and whilst PokerStars still has seats to sell. To avoid disappointment, please notify PokerStars as soon as possible if you want to buy-in directly. Players may buy seat-only packages at the going exchange rate on the day of registration, or they may also buy EPT accommodation packages - depending on availability.

    All W$ buy-ins to EPT events will be PokerStars sponsored players for that EPT event, and they are required to wear a PokerStars shirt for the duration of the tournament. All players who buy-in with W$ will be supplied with a PokerStars player bag.

    BARCELONA

    Useful Information

    Official languages: Catalan is the official language in Barcelona but all Catalans also speak Spanish (Castellano) and English is widely spoken.

    Banks: Most banks have an exchange counter and are open from 8am - 2pm; Mondays to Saturdays. Automatic cash dispensers (ATMs) are widespread throughout the city. Some hotels will also exchange money (at rates generally higher than banks).

    International dialing codes: +34 (the USA is +1)

    Time: Spain is in the Central European Time zone. All tournament times are local.

    HOW TO GET THERE:

    AIR: El Prat International Airport serves many national airlines as well as numerous budget airlines flying in from a wealth of European cities including Easyjet, Spanair, Air Europa, Vueling and Clickair.

    TAXI: Licensed taxis (black and yellow) are plentiful outside the airport terminals and cost approximately €15-20 for a 20-minute ride into the city centre.

    BUSES AND TRAINS: A regular bus service runs into the centre. It costs €3.75 and takes about 30 minutes. There are stops outside each terminal. A regular train service runs into the city centre from El Prat train station (reached via a covered walkway on the first floor of Terminal B). It takes 30 minutes and costs €2.40.
