EPT Warsaw

Season 5’s EPT Warsaw event – the second to be held in the Polish captital - saw the amazing Portuguese player Joao Barbosa take down his first EPT title. Barbosa, who was celebrating his 26th birthday the same day, was on his third EPT cash of the season. He cashed a further three times in Season 5 to cement an already fearsome reputation.

En route to his Warsaw title – and first prize of €367,141 – Barbosa, from Porto, out-gunned one of the highest-quality final tables in recent memory, featuring the Season 4 EPT Prague champion Arnaud Mattern as well as Team PokerStars Pro Dario Minieri who came third.

The 217-strong field included nearly 50 PokerStars qualifiers chasing a total prize pool of more than €1 million in cash. Three of those qualifiers made it to the final table: Atanas Gueorguiev, from Bulgaria, who came fourth, Russian Sergey Shcherbatskiy (6th) and Michael Muheim from Switzerland (9th). Shcherbatskiy earned his trip to Warsaw for a mere $7.50 after working his way up the PokerStars' steps satellites.
