WARSAW
Warsaw (Warszawa in Polish) is both the capital of Poland and its largest city, with a population of some 1.6 million people. Warsaw is currently enjoying the biggest economic boom of its history and has a rich cultural heritage, home to more than 30 major theatres, music venues and festivals as well as numerous museums and art galleries. Frederick Chopin was born in the city.
The Old Town quarter, carefully reconstructed after World War II, is one of the city's most prominent tourist attractions and on UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites. The "Royal Road" is also a popular attraction, with lots of notable classicist palaces including the Presidential Palace and the Warsaw University campus.
HOW TO GET THERE
By air: Warsaw Frederic Chopin International Airport can be reached direct from most major European cities and the US. The airport is some 10 km south of Warsaw city centre and around 8 km away from the Hyatt Regency/Casinos Poland.
From Warsaw International Airport (WAW) to the city centre:
By taxi: The cab fare from Warsaw airport to the city centre is approximately PLN 20-30 (€6-8). Use an official airport-recommended taxi ie Merc Taxi, MPT Radio Taxi or Sawa Taxi.
Airport bus services:
Bus Route 175 - this service goes to the northern city centre, passing near some of the most popular hotels on its way.
Metro:
The Warsaw underground opened in 1995 and is one of the newest underground railway systems in Europe. It runs daily from early morning until midnight at 5-10 minute intervals.
Orientation:
Warsaw is divided by the river Vistula with the two parts usually referred to as 'the left bank' and 'the right bank'.

Currency: the Polish Zloty (PLN). The approximate exchange rate at 10/13/2009 is as follows:

Banks: Most banks are open from 8 a.m. till 6 p.m. (Monday to Friday). Main bank branches in big cities are also open on Saturday from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m.
Visas: Europeans, North Americans and Australians do not need a visa to visit Poland. Other citizens should consult their travel agent or nearest British embassy.

Time: Poland is in the Central European Time zone. All tournament times are local.
