EPT - MEDIA ACCREDITATION REQUIREMENTS

We welcome all members of the media to EPT events and look forward to helping you with any media requests. Our goal is to ensure EPT events run smoothly for everyone concerned - players, tournament organisers, EPT film crew and all attending media. Please make sure that you read the following media accreditation requirements. Any media infringing these requirements risk losing their media accreditation for the entire event and future EPT events.

EPT Coverage + PokerStars

  • The EPT requires that all media reporting the EPT (press, radio, television and bloggers) give the event sponsors PokerStars.com prominent recognition in their coverage of the event.
  • For press coverage, this would include clearly crediting the European Poker Tour sponsors PokerStars.com in the first mention of the EPT within the piece, using either the "PokerStars.com European Poker Tour" or the "PokerStars.com EPT".
  • For bloggers reporting live from EPT events, this would include clearly crediting EPT sponsors PokerStars.com in the first mention each day, using either the "PokerStars.com European Poker Tour" or the "PokerStars.com EPT".
  • For video coverage of the EPT this would include prominently stating either the "PokerStars.com European Poker Tour" or the "PokerStars.com EPT”  during the video.
  • It is not sufficient to just use the PokerStars.com logo. The sponsor must be mentioned in the body of the material. This includes all reports which are using information supplied by the EPT and PokerStars - even if the journalist was not accredited to the event or attending the event.
  • The Trademark policies must be followed with regards to the use of the EPT logo.   For full details of the trademark policies please see:

http://www.europeanpokertour.com/press/EPT_logo_restrictions.html

Registration

  • Media personnel must register for each EPT event using the online accreditation form on the EPT press page: www.ept.com/press/index.html. Accreditation is not automatically given.
  • Journalists applying for accreditation must supply full details including name, organisation, type of coverage planned and full contact details. If an individual journalist is planning to come to more than one event (or all of them), they still need to apply for accreditation for EACH event.
  • Media accreditation will only be given to journalists covering the EPT event. The media facilities are not for organisations attending the EPT for their own marketing purposes.
  • The number of media passes issued is limited to no more than THREE per organisation, and may be further reduced, depending on the venue, as a result of limited capacity. Exceptions can be made for television crews, with media applications dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Please email ept@pokerstars.com.
  • Freelance journalists should apply online as usual, but must also provide a letter of assignment from an editor of the organisation they are representing - either printed on letterhead paper, or in an email originating from the organisation's formal domain. If this is required you will be contacted following your media application.
  • Media passes are NOT transferable. If, for any reason, you need to change personnel before or during an event, please contact ept@pokerstars.com as soon as possible. Journalists who swap or share passes risks being banned from the event.
  • Online media registration will close 48 hours before each event. Due to demand, it will NOT be possible to obtain a media pass after this time, so PLEASE ENSURE you submit your online registration in good time.

Media Room regulations

Broadband internet capability at the EPT events can be problematic. To this end, at certain events a"video corner" is allocated in the media room with specific internet cables JUST for video. All media will be asked to a) collaborate with each other on the use of these cables ie sharing b) not use any other cables for uploading video.  Any media infringing this regulation will lose their media accreditation for the entire event and future EPT events

The EPT will endeavour to provide media facilities, including press room equipped with wireless or cable internet access, wherever possible. Only accredited media are allowed access to the media room and/or any other media facilities.

  • If we reach full capacity, it may become necessary to restrict access to the media room or require journalists from the same organisation to share desk space and internet access.
  • In order to conserve bandwidth at events where wireless internet access is provided, please disconnect your wireless connection while you are not actively using it. We also request all media not to use bandwidth for non-essential, non-work activities (such as playing online poker, downloading files etc). Journalists found abusing this risk losing their accreditation for that event.
  • Please do not leave valuables in the media room. The EPT cannot take responsibility for any items left in the media room and/or tournament area.
  • For security reasons - and because space is often very limited - please do not invite players, colleagues or friends into the media room.
  • The media room should only be used for writing or filing stories. Please do not use the media room for regular radio or television broadcasts. At most events, the EPT can provide a special "interview" room for photographers and TV crews.

Tournament area - procedures

  • In the tournament area, it is essential that the tournament director and his staff, and the EPT film crew, are allowed to go about their work unhindered at all times. If you are asked to leave a particular area, please do so immediately. Media who refuse to follow instructions from any EPT organiser or member of the EPT film crew risk losing their accreditation for the rest of the event.
  • During the later stages of each EPT event, when we are down to a fewer number of tables, it will be necessary to clear the playing area of non-essential participants, including media. This is to ensure that the players, tournament director and EPT TV crew can go about their business unheeded.
  • When the playing area is cleared, the EPT will endeavour to provide a separate, cordoned-off media area.
  • Credited media should not distract players during tournament action, this is liable to immediate ejection.

Photography

  • In some venues, photography is not allowed anywhere outside the tournament area and any photographer found to infringe casino regulations is likely to have their media pass rescinded. Photographers need to respect the privacy of casino clients who are not participating directly in the EPT event.
  • Flash photography is prohibited near to and around the TV Table during tournament action and filming.

Video

  • In some venues, filming is not allowed anywhere outside the tournament area and any media found to infringe casino regulations is likely to have their media pass rescinded.Vvideographers need to respect the privacy of casino clients who are not participating directly in the EPT event.
  • Filming of the TV table is strictly prohibited during tournament action, other than by the designated EPT film crew.
  • At those events where EPT live is filmed it is possible to encode the stream onto media websites and within blogs, for information on this please e-mail: ept@pokerstars.com

Enforcement

  • Any accredited media who is deemed disorderly, who fails to comply with any of the foregoing requirements, or any set forth by tournament officials, and all security measures, may be subject to immediate ejection from EPT, and may subject the accredited organization to revocation of its credentials for future EPT events.
  • Not withstanding any other provision herein, this credential is a courtesy to bearer only and creates no economic or other legally recognized interest in the bearer and this credential may be revoked at any time for any reason or no reason in the sole and absolute discretion of the EPT, or any agent or employee working on the EPTs behalf.
