BUDAPEST

With a population of over 1.5 million, the city lies on both sides of the River Danube - Buda on the west bank and Pest on the east. Budapest is famed for its spas - there are more than 100 in the capital alone and 70 million litres of thermal water are produced by the city's hot springs.Budapest has a rich history and unique cultural heritage - beautiful palaces, churches and numerous museums, the remains of Roman fortresses and buildings, authentic Turkish baths, Gothic and Baroque buildings, and Art Nouveau architecture. Budapest is also home to Europe’s largest functioning synagogue and the continent's first underground railway.
