CANCELLATION OF PCA 2008 $500 SIDE TOURNAMENTS

Dear PCA player:

After careful consideration, we have decided to cancel the $500 side events on Saturday the 5th and Sunday the 6th.

We did not make this decision lightly. But because of the incredible popularity of the main $8000 event, we have devoted all of our tables (plus some extra) and most of our staff to making it successful. We hope you'll agree that making the main event as big and successful as possible is our first priority.

If we were to run the $500 events, we would have to limit them to ten tables each (100 players) because of the number of tables in use by the main event. This would be true for both Day 1A (January 5th) and Day 1B (January 6th). It's likely we would have to turn away as many (or more) players as we seated. We don't think that serves anybody well.

Instead, we will simply open more cash game and sit-and-go tables earlier - we want everybody who wants to play poker to have a chance to do so, even if it's not in a $500 multi-table tournament.

The $1000 event on Monday the 7th will go as planned - we are virtually sure we'll have the tables we need to accommodate all the players who want to play in that.

We don't like making changes like this at the last minute, but we felt this was the best thing for the most people. Thank you for your understanding.
