POKERSTARS CARIBBEAN ADVENTURE - BATTLESHIP TOURNAMENT
The 3rd Annual Pokerstars World Championship of Battleship Poker Battleship takes place at the PCA at the Atlantis Resort Casino this week. Battleship poker is a unique way of playing poker - heads-up, online and face-to-face. Players face each other over a pair of laptop computers - so while you're playing online, you are also looking at your opponent, talking to him and even getting tells from his face!
Date: Tuesday, January 8th, 2008 at 3:00pm
Buy-in: $2000+$20
Registration opens on Friday, January 4th at 22:00. Players can buy in with cash (US dollars) at the registration desk. We're sorry but players cannot buy in with W$ or FPPs. We will cap the tournament at either 32 or 64 players. We will continue taking registrations up to 64 players - however if we get more than 32 sign-ups but fewer than 64, then the players beyond #32 will not be able to play.
Players will play a series of single elimination heads-up matches, advancing only if you win a match.
PLAYING SCHEDULE
The first 32 players will play on Tuesday, January 8th, beginning at 15:00. The schedule will
be as follows:
Time | Matches | Details |
3:00pm | 1-8 | First 16 players play down to 8 |
4:00pm | 9-16 | Second 16 players play down to 8 |
5:00pm | 1-8 | Remaining 16 players play down to 8 |
6:00pm | 1-4 | Remaining 8 players play down to 4 |
7:00pm | 1-2 | Remaining 4 players play down to 2 |
|
If we have 64 players, we will repeat the above schedule on Wednesday, January 9. Otherwise, Tuesday will be a break day for battleship players.
Wednesday, January 9 will be the battleship finals. If we start with 32 players, this will
be the final heads-up match only. If we start with 64 players, we will have the semi-final matches and then the final heads-up match. The finals will be at 21:00 on Wednesday, January 9. We’ll have commentary by Lee Jones, members of Team PokerStars, and other special guests.
All winners will be paid via deposits into their PokerStars accounts. We will have regular times at which players may withdraw funds from (or deposit funds to) their PokerStars account. A special “PokerStars cashier cage” will be set up near the poker room for players to withdraw from (or deposit to) their PokerStars account. Opening times for that special cage will be posted.
BATTLESHIP RULES
1. The players must close all applications except the tournament window they are playing in, and the PokerStars main
lobby. Specifically, this includes, but is not limited to:
- No Internet browser windows
- No hand history windows
- No windows into other matches in the tournament
- No chat clients (MSN, AIM, Skype, etc)
- No PokerOffice, PokerTracker, etc.
Violation of this rule subjects the player to potential disqualification.
2. No headphones (iPods, CD players, computer sound systems, etc). No mobile phones in use.
3. Chat and trash-talk over the tops of laptops is encouraged, but expected to stay within appropriate bounds.
4. Players are expected to twreat their opponent’s laptop as being the equivalent of his cards in a live game. Be sensitive
about how close you get to it.
5. No player may have friends, supporters, etc., near the area where he’s playing. All spectators must respect a physical
or nominal barrier established by the tournament director.
6. After a match is over, the loser must leave the tournament area. The winner can stay in the area, ready to play his next
match, but should obviously not be railbirding other matches.
7. In the event of any dispute, the decision of the tournament director and his staff will be final.
